Hello,

My name is Rebecca and I’m the artist behind the work. I currently have three dogs and countless fish and my pets mean the absolute world to me… from fish, rats, rabbits, cats and dogs, I’ve owned and loved many  animals over the years so I genuinely know how important these family members are. Losing an animal is utterly heart breaking (ask me about my amazing and much missed rats sometime) and I love that I can give people something to cherish and celebrate their amazing pets with. Every single animal is beautiful and full of their own character and charm and I pride myself on capturing this individuality within my work. I wholeheartedly believe that every single animal deserves to be celebrated and loved and I want to help as many people as possible capture the beautiful memories that their pets have given them. They give complete and unconditional love so why not celebrate this love with a hand drawn portrait for you or as a gift for someone else?

Colour or Black and White
Most of my drawings are black and white because I use the highest quality fine nibbed micro pens for my drawings and use mark making and gradient to build up texture and tone. However I can add elements of colour in. Either in the background, animals accessories or eye colour etc. Just message me when ordering and we can discuss options.

Multiple Pets
Unlike a lot of other commission artists I don’t charge extra for multiple pets. As an owner of three dogs I fully understand that our pets come as a package so I wouldn’t want to separate them or make you choose which one you love more… is that even possible? However, if you do want to incorporate two or more pets without losing detail I do recommend a size no smaller than A4.

Sizes and Prices
I sometimes find artists who say ‘contact me for prices’ intimidating and really, I just want to know whether or not I can afford their work upfront. So with that in mind I wanted to offer fixed and clear prices so that no one is left wondering or feeling intimidated as I often have!

I offer several pre-priced and easily framed sizes in the table below but custom sizes are available on request.

The drawing uses fine lines and various mark making to build up texture and tone on the dogs fur alongside coloured fine liner pens to bring greens and blues into the grass and hills.

Materials
Your portrait will be hand drawn using fine pens onto Bristol Board paper and posted to you in protective packaging that is as eco-friendly as possible along with a custom note. If this is a gift for someone let me know in the checkout notes and I can wrap it for you and send direct.

Photo References
For your drawing I will need the main photo of your pet in a pose that you like and any other photos that show the animal in more detail or with accessories that you want including.

When supplying a reference photo, please consider the following:

- Photograph your pet in natural lighting, avoiding artificial lighting where possible, and avoid the use of flash as this can cause over exposure and discolour the fur and eyes.

- Close up photos are best to enable me to capture as much detail as possible and photos with your pets head slightly tilted to the side are always better at showing off your pets features. Depending on what angle/pose you like it’s advisable to use photos taken at the pets eye level to capture detail in the fur and eyes but this doesn’t have to be the case as long as you give me a few other reference photos for details.

- Use as high a quality photo as possible. Either form a camera or good mobile phone. If you don’t have this or are working from older or printed photos message me and I’ll see what I can do.

- Please only use photos that you have taken of your pet or have permission to use.
Please email your reference photos to… rebecca@reconsideredretro.com

Time Frame
Ideally you need to book your portrait at least two months in advance of when you need it (depending on size). This time frame can be reduced at certain times of the year but in the run up to Christmas particularly as much notice as possible is good. Please consider waiting lists for portraits, the time it takes to draw your portrait and delivery times when booking. If you are running late I do offer gift vouchers that can be given as a gift and redeemed at a later date.
